NZX appoints Edison as NXT research provider

The New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX) has reached an agreement in principle for Edison Investment Research to become the foundation research provider for NXT, a new market designed for small and mid-sized businesses (https://www.nxt.co.nz/pages/about). The provision of independent research on all NXT-listed companies is a key design feature of the market, which aims to provide high-quality and frequent information to investors. NXT company research reports will be available to view publicly and download for free on NXT.co.nz.

In this interview, Neil Shah, Director of Research at Edison discusses the benefits of an exchange facilitating coverage of independent research for issuers and stakeholders, the type of research investors can expect to receive from Edison and how the organisation plans to use its global analyst teams to provide coverage.

Analyst Interview – Neil Shah on the Future of equity research white paper

Analyst Interview – Neil Shah on the Future of equity research white paper

Neil Shah, co-author of the white paper on the future of equity research, which was published in January 2014 in collaboration with Neil Scarth of Frost Consulting, discusses the report’s key findings. Neil outlines six short- and long-term changes he sees as a result of regulatory changes in the equity research ecosystem. The authors believe the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) Conflicts of Interest document issued in November 2012 and subsequent consultation paper, Consultation on the use of dealing commission rules issued in November 2013, have the potential to be the most significant catalysts for change the equity research ecosystem has seen in a century, and could potentially have a global impact on the provision of equity research. A copy of the white paper can be downloaded from the following link: http://www.edisoninvestmentresearch.com/serve_pdf.php?d=sectorreports&f=The_future_of_equity_research.pdf
