Notes on Anita Skipper’s lunch presentation

On 21 January 2015, Edison hosted an informal lunch for IR professionals and company secretaries, at which Anita Skipper, an independent adviser to Aviva Investors, talked about Aviva’s and the industry’s approach to a range of corporate governance issues. She covered two main areas: how corporate governance teams work in institutions and some of the drivers from clients, regulators and the government; and the key themes in corporate governance over the near and medium term, and the issues quoted businesses should be aware of.
Anita Skipper is a well-known figure in corporate governance, having spent 20 years at Aviva Investors, one of the leading innovators in its approach to corporate governance. She has also been involved in a range of industry governance bodies such as the Investment Association (previously the ABI) and NAPF.
